Current Schedule for March:
Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at 12 PM PST:
We’re pleased to welcome our special guest, Jeffrey Umberger, Owner and Agent of Umberger Talent Agency in Atlanta, GA, as we focus on another aspect of building your voiceover career:
The Agent/Talent Relationship:
Expectations, Obligations, and Responsibilities
In this episode, Joe and Jeffrey will open the conversation with an often overlooked discussion of the expectations, obligations and responsibilities of the Talent Agent, and of you, the Talent.
An effective and successful relationship with your agent is critical if you want to take your voiceover career to the highest level of integrity, quality-assurance and credibility. Being represented by a top agent is the “Gold Standard” in the industry.
Casting Directors work closely with Talent Agents because they know they can trust the agent’s ability to send only the “Best of the Best” for auditions.
Does your Agent know you’re the “Best of the Best”? If not, there’s something you can do about it.
Don’t have an Agent, but want to learn more about why you should consider being represented? Joe and Jeffrey will share their combined experience to assist you in making wise choices for your career.
During our discussion, we’ll address questions such as:
- What are the “Rules of Etiquette” when submitting to an agency for representation?
- What does an Agent provide for the Talent?
- What should the Talent provide for the Agent?
- How does the Agent boost my exposure to Casting Directors?
- Do I have to join a union to get work through an agency?
- How can I help my Agent get me jobs?
- Should I have more than 1 Agent representing me?
The mics will be open for your questions, comments and active participation. As always, the Ask Joe Career Forums are fun, interactive and very informative!
